TEXT (1 John 2:28)And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming. NIV

And now, dear children, remain in fellowship with Christ so that when he returns, you will be full of courage and not shrink back from him in shame..
NLT

And now, children, stay with Christ. Live deeply in Christ. Then we'll be ready for him when he appears, ready to receive him with open arms, with no cause for red-faced guilt or lame excuses when he arrives. Message

COMMENTARY
Those who live with the eternal perspective understand the fact that one day The King will return. The fact is that at His return all those who belong to the Kingdom will meet Him at the diplomatic reception room, as…

TEXT (1 John 2:17)The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever. NIV
And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever. NLTThe world and all its wanting, wanting, wanting is on the way out—but whoever does what God wants is set for eternity. Message COMMENTARYThe things that people crave based on their needs-based living, rather than on a cross-centred living, will end them up in disappointment. Their god is really their bellies. Their song is about their wellbeing, their success, their security.

Their interest in God extends only to that He is Jireh, Rapha etc. not so much that He is Jehovah - God and God alone. Their …

False Citizenship?

By Napoleon Black

TEXT (1 John 2:16)

For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. NIV

For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world NLT

Practically everything that goes on in the world—wanting your own way, wanting everything for yourself, wanting to appear important—has nothing to do with the Father. It just isolates you from him. Message

COMMENTARY

Dual citizenship?

By Napoleon Black

TEXT (1 John 2:15)

Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. NIV

Don't love the world's ways. Don't love the world's goods. Love of the world squeezes out love for the Father. Message

Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. NLT

COMMENTARY

Spiritual love cannot be divided. We either love God or we love the world. We cannot have the world on a pedestal and God on the same pedestal. We cannot be loyal to the world and loyal to the kingdom of Heaven at the same time. We cannot be loyal to the god of this world and the God of Heaven. In short we cannot hold dual …
