False Citizenship?

By Napoleon Black

TEXT (1 John 2:16)

For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. NIV

For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world NLT

Practically everything that goes on in the world—wanting your own way, wanting everything for yourself, wanting to appear important—has nothing to do with the Father. It just isolates you from him. Message

COMMENTARY

Sometimes we use the wrong measuring stick of what loving the world is. Sometimes we limit loving the world to such blatant and horrid sins as sexual immorality and stealing large sums of money.

But Listen to how the church may use the so-called God concepts to seduce people into loving the world. This is what one Christian leader is reputed to have taught - ... how can you glorify God in your body, when it doesn't function right? How can you glorify God? How can He get glory when your body doesn't even work? ... What makes you think the Holy Ghost wants to live inside a body where He can't see out through the windows and He can't hear with the ears? What makes you think the Holy Spirit wants to live inside of a physical body where the limbs and the organs and the cells do not function right? ... And what makes you think He wants to live in a temple where He can't see out of the eyes, and He can't walk with the feet, and He can't move with the hand? ... The only eyes that he has

that are in the earth realm are the eyes that are in the body. If He can't see out of them then God's gonna be limited he's not going to be helped...”

There are people who take this preacher seriously. In many Christian circles disguised selfishness, lust, pride and worldly notions parade as true signs of spirituality.

Something to Meditate on:

Has worldliness disguised itself in my life?

A decision I need to make

How have I been dealing with pride, greed and the pursuit of pleasure in my life?
